ACT firm buys US business (Everalls DFK, Canberra)
”One of my clients is a manufacturer and exporter of Swimming
Pool accessories. He wanted to gain entry into the lucrative
USA market, so decided to buy a swimming pool accessory distribution
business in the US.
After many enquiries, we identified a suitable business in
Atlanta, Georgia. Not knowing anything about buying businesses
in the USA, I contacted the DFK USA office and they referred
him to their member in Atlanta for assistance. This was a
fantastic help as they did some preliminary investigative
work on the target company and then when the client and I
arrived in Atlanta, they were there to assist us through the
paperwork required to do a due diligence, and then to purchase
the company.
They continued to act as the accountant for the business until
my client then sold it a few years ago. My client was delighted
because we were able to provide assistance for him in the
USA. Our firm gained in local knowledge and relationships.”

“A client from NSW, an Australian professional sportsperson,
was considering a contract to play in Belgium.
Advice from the Brussels office together with the information
in our DFK International Tax Guide enabled us to assist the
client to fully understand the tax implications of playing
his professional sport, and living and earning money in Belgium
as a non resident.
The client was able to make an informed decision about his
future in Belgium. The firm was delighted that it could efficiently
assist the client in an area best serviced by the Belgian
contact.”

Aussie has Chinese equity (DFK Laurence Varnay, Sydney)
“A client was taking up equity in a Chinese company. He needed
to know the Chinese legal implications and the risks, of his
status as a shareholder in such a company.
The Hong Kong office was contacted. They provided the legal
requirements and an analysis of the impact such a move would
have on our client. The client was pleased that he could be
assisted quickly from a trusted professional source who understood
his needs. The firm was able to provide a value added service

Asia Pacific refers client (Everalls DFK, Canberra)
“This story relates to me attending the Asia/Pacific meetings
of DFK International. During one of these meetings (in Kuala
Lumpur) I was introduced to a client of our DFK Malaysia firm.
This client was interested in investing money in real estate
in Australia.
I spoke with him for some time, and then about 6 months later
was contacted by him to setup a company in Australia through
which he could invest in Australian Real Estate.
Since then, I have setup a second company for him, and have
also introduced him to an Investment Advisor who has assisted
him in using company funds to invest in the Australian Stock
Market. The client is delighted with our local guidance and
professional contacts and service we could provide. Networking
at Asia/Pacific meetings is beneficial to both clients and
to firms.”
